VASUDEVA PLEADS WITH KAMSA NOT TO KILL DEVAKI

After marrying Devaki in Mathura, Vasudeva was returning to his place along with his wife. Their chariot was being driven by her cousin Kamsa himself as he loved her very much. While they were thus on their way, a voice from the sky announced “Oh Kamsa, you love your sister so much because you do not know that her eighth son would kill you. Kamsa was frightened to hear this, and forgetting his love for his sister he pulled her down from the chariot and got ready to kill her. Worried Vasudeva came down from the chariot and tried to impress upon Kamsa that it would be unjust to kill his sister but in vain. Lastly when Vasudeva promised Kamsa that whenever a child is born to Devaki, he would soon hand over that child to Kamsa, he got pacified. Kamsa spared the life of his cousin and returned to the capital city.
