THE STORY OF KING KHATWANGA

Once there lived a king named Khatwanga. He was righteous and very powerful king. He had defeated the kings of all the seven islands and brought them under his control.

Indra and other gods who were defeated by the demons beseeched the help of Khatwanga. The king drove away all the demons. Happy gods granted a boon to the king. They said “Ask whatever you desire and it will be given”.

He king was very wise and first wanted to know how long more he would live. When they told him that he was left with only few hours to live, he wasted no time in relinquishing everything. He sat in Padmasana and chanting the name of Lord Vishnu, he breathed his last.

Thus the wise king Khatwanga utilized the limited time purposefully and obtained salvation.
