HIRANYAKASIPA’S PENANCE

 

Hiranyakasipa learnt that his brother Hiranyaksha was killed by Lord Sri Hari in his incarnation as the great Varaha.  He firmly decided to revenge the killing of his brother.  How ever as he knew that his enemy was very powerful, he did great penance and obtained a boon from Lord Brahma that he should not get killed by any weapon, man or an animal, inside or outside the house, on the earth or in the sky, during day or night etc.
