SAINT DURVASA FROWNS UPON AMBARISHA – SUDARSHAN CHAKRA CHASES AWAY DURVASA

 

King Ambarisha did not know how to complete his ‘Vratam’ in time as the auspicious hours of Dwadasi were passing away. His priests advised him to take some water in token of ending his fast and then wait for the saint. He did accordingly. Then saint Durvasa came back from the river after taking his bath. On learning that the King ended his fast without waiting for him, he became very angry. He pulled out a tuft of his hair and threw it down on the floor. It immediately took the shape of a demon with a weapon in its hand and proceeded towards the king as ordered by the saint. Lord Vishnu sent his Sudarshana Chakra which attacked the demon and demolished it at once. Then it proceeded towards Durvasa. Frightened Durvasa started running for his life and the Chakra followed him.
