VASUDEVA CROSSES YAMUNA CARRYING KRISHNA

Vasudeva and Devaki were put in jail by Kamsa to ensure that their eighth child, when born, could be killed by him. Devaki who was pregnant eighth time gave birth to a son during a dark night. The child was looking glorious with four hands holding, Chakra, Sanku etc and wearing ‘Kausthuba’ on his neck. Devaki and Vasudeva wondered looking at the child and realized that it was Lord Vishnu who was born as their son. They prayed the Lord to appear as a normal child. The child then turned into a normal looking child. Vasudeva heard a voice from the sky asking him to take the child to Vrepalle and leave him with Nanda’s wife Yashoda and to bring the female child born to Yashoda. Vasudeva took the child into his hands and the jail doors opened automatically and the guards fell asleep. Vasudeva carrying his son left for Vrepalle and on his way the river Yamuna gave way to Vasudeva and he could walk through the river to reach the other side. Leaving his son besides Yashoda who was sleeping, he brought her female child back with him to the jail. Afterwards the jail door got shut automatically and the guards woke up. When they saw a child sleeping besides Devaki they carried the news to their King Kamsa.
